Founded in 2000 and based in Katonah, New York, Architectural Data Systems was co-founded by John Averitt and Chuck Williams. Both experienced architects, they spent the next three years designing and programming an innovative, data based system, that grew on the foundation of years of their own personal experience and that of respected colleagues.

John and Chuck realized that although architects use state-of-the-art tools to produce construction documents, the process to assemble and coordinate those documents had not advanced along side innovations in software. The industry's history shows that we have superimposed high tech tools on an antiquated process and those tools have reached a point of diminishing returns. The founders of ADS set out to bring the document production process up to the same level of productivity as design tools.
